Severino Albuquerque produced most of his scholarly work between the early 1980s and mid-2020s. He composed his creative work in his late teens and early twenties, not returning to it until he was close to retirement.
He published two volumes of poetry, as well as two academic books as sole author and two other as co-editor. In addition he contributed numerous chapters and articles to scholarly books and journals.
Professor Albuquerque served for many years as Brazilian literature and culture editor of the Luso-Brazilian Review.
